The winter break provide a wealth of pastimes considerably more enjoyable than catching up on the headlines: unwrapping gifts, getting stuffed on delicious food, and harnessing meditation skills to avoid snapping at loved ones. It is wished you succeeded in enjoy all these things and more. However, the showbiz industry doesn't take a break, and this is especially true for the realm of anime. Many thrilling announcements emerged during the holidays, and if you missed any, here is a compilation of the most exciting bits.
One-Punch Man Season 3 Will Continue (Come 2027)
Perhaps the most shocking revelation, the notorious disaster that was the third season of One-Punch Man wasn't enough to stop more episodes. Season 3 will come back with a subsequent part in 2027—such a distant date they easily could have labeled it season 4. Even more shocking, animation studio J.C. Staff will remain leading the project. Thankfully this time, helmer Shinpei Nagai is attached to direct from the start, which might be a hopeful indicator. However, the key visual for the new episodes is identical to the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou looking opposite ways. This leads one to believe that, by now, they must be mocking the fans.
The Ruri Dragon Series Is Set to Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime Produced By Kyoto Animation
Kyoto Animation has forged a standing for being an prestigious animation studio, making its mark not just for the exceptional quality of its productions but for the ethical practices of its employees—a rarity in the industry. Unexpectedly, until now, it had never worked on an anime stemming from a manga published in Shonen Jump, perhaps the most famous magazine in the business. Ruri Dragon will end that streak, and what a great choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo gained massive popularity when it debuted in 2022 after just a handful of installments, but then went into a two-year hiatus due to the author's health issues. When it returned with a more relaxed pace, the series demonstrated it hadn't lost the fans' affection and positive sentiment, and now the community is overjoyed about the impending KyoAni adaptation.
Kingdom Season 6 Is Getting a Follow-Up In Production
Kingdom is the highly popular, epic Shueisha manga that is not One Piece. If you've haven't come across it before, it's because it only just received an English translation, but the anime has been running for a while, and season 6 was another stellar entry. It turns out that was just the initial batch, because a "sequel" has been announced as currently being made, and it will probably air in 2026.
Science Saru Is Bringing A Witch in Mongolia To Anime
One more studio renowned for the excellent quality of its projects, Science Saru has delivered critically acclaimed works of the caliber of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, lastly, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be taking on the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, inspired by the true story of Fatima, an influential woman and thinker in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. From the trailer, the anime titled Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a highly unique and intriguing visual style, which evokes Ranking of Kings. Debuting in July 2026, this one will definitely be on my must-watch list.
