British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday evening. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the global fight fans offered its support for the star in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
