FC Barcelona Ready for Inaugural Match at Renovated Camp Nou on Saturday
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league over two years following their departure so building work could begin.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees can be present under the licence granted. Once fully finished, it will accommodate almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced finished work included a new players’ tunnel and new dressing rooms.
Stadium Testing
The club conducted an open training session at the Camp Nou earlier this month. They mentioned they are seeking authorization from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture facing Eintracht in December at the stadium. They have been hosting matches at the Olympic Stadium.
