Jennifer Lawrence States Mentioning Trump Would ‘Worsen the Situation’ That’s Ripping the Nation Apart
The star has revealed that she finds it inappropriate appropriate to speak out against the Trump government, fearing it could exacerbate divisive discussions and further divisions across the country.
‘I’m Unsure If It’s Wise’, Explains Jennifer Lawrence
During a discussion, she commented, “During the first Trump administration, I felt like I was running around without clear direction. But as we’ve learned, through repeated campaigns, celebrities have no real impact in any way on voter decisions.”
The actor went on, “Why continue? I’m just expressing personal views on something that’s going to worsen tensions that’s ripping the nation apart.”
Political Evolution
Jennifer Lawrence has previously been open about voting for both right and leftwing contenders throughout her life. Growing up with a right-leaning family in her home state, she supported the Republican nominee in 2008 before joining the Democratic party and revealing she realized during President Obama’s term that voting Republican was voting against her personal freedoms as a female citizen.
Previous Comments
Earlier in her career, she commented that Trump winning the presidency would be “the end of the world” and publicly supported Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential race. During the most recent election, she voiced her backing to the Democratic nominee, “since I believe she’s a strong contender and I trust that she will do whatever she can to defend abortion access.”
Industry Position
Lawrence was aligned with most of Hollywood in her disapproval of Trump as a presidential contender, but the minimal impact stars have over the public choices was highlighted by the outcome.
“Another four years appears changed,” commented the actress of his leadership. “As he stated his intentions. We were aware of his actions for the previous administration. He was explicit. And that’s what we chose.”
Latest Film
The actor is discussing her new film, Lynne Ramsay’s movie in which she portrays a young mom who struggles with her emotional state in a remote area. Speaking at a media event for the project in Venice, the star addressed Israel’s bombings in Gaza: “I’m terrified. It’s devastating. What’s occurring is equivalent to a humanitarian crisis and it’s terrible.”
Additional Thoughts
She continued by expressing that she was disheartened by “the disrespect in the discourse of the political landscape at present and how that is going to be normalised to the kids now. It’s going to be typical to them that leaders are untruthful.”
She attempted to refocus frustration about the conflict to policymakers rather than entertainers. “Stay focused on who is responsible,” she said, in what many took to be a nod to the declaration signed by thousands of arts community members to avoid certain cultural organizations.
Relatable Experiences
The actor, who received an Academy Award aged 22 for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, is generating Oscar buzz for her performance in the new film. Even though the director has disputed the narrative being understood as one of post-birth struggles and psychological distress, she shared that she connected with aspects of her character’s journey after the arrival of her second son, soon after shooting ended.
“It was fear for my son,” she said, “envisioning every negative outcome, and then second-guessing everything that I was doing. I was seeing a therapist, but I started taking a treatment called that medicine and I continued it for 14 days and it made a difference.”
Film Challenges
Jennifer Lawrence also mentioned about the liberating necessity of shooting revealing sequences in the film while she was in pregnancy and unable to exercise.
“There’s a freedom,” she commented, of being forced to cast off vanity. “Truly, I sometimes think where I’m like, What separates me between me and a prostitute? But it doesn’t keep me up at night.”
